My dearest Prudence,
I have pressing matters which I must bring to your attention of the goings on in court today and the happenings which have surpassed in the last moon from which the King hath lost his life. Poor Queen Gertrude, disgruntled by mourning has hastily remarried to old King Hamlet’s sibling, Cornelius. I worry, for I see that this disrespectful gesture towards the dead hath affected Hamlet greatly. Her disregard for the mourning is strange and unusual. I know with all that is holy that she truly admired King Hamlet with all her heart and the death must have tortured her greatly. I pray that she comes to her senses soon for I do not think she knowst what hath happened to Hamlet during these last few weeks. She mosk’st him greatly of his nighted colour and accept that all lives must die. I knowst well that it is not easy to lose a father. I mine self hath lost mine own at a tender age.
What I fear most are the hostile conversations between Hamlet and Cornelius. I see that Claudius hath put in a small effort to become closer, but I see that he hath no intention of making a true bond. I feel he does it for the well-being of Lady Gertrude. It seems as though Hamlet knowst of this plot and refuses to adhere. He sees through the veil of which beneath Claudius hides, but for the health of his mother does not reveal the façade for her happiness.
I personally find this decrepit man revolting. He lacketh the courage and will to be a worthy King. I see him to be a man with a fear of confrontation and a weak backbone. I see destruction in our near future if situations do not change. I advise you to watch your back and the happenings of both our country and that of Norway.
Although I am trapped within the palace walls due to my loyalty to Lady Gertrude, I advise you, my dear friend to escape this godforsaken country, for my many years at the Queen’s side hath given me insight towards country affairs and quarrels. The direction in which this family affair is headed only leads to extinction. Go now, before it is too late, and give my regards my kin of it so pleases you.
Fly fast my friend. Fly!
Sincerely,
Bianca
